The Hercules Starlifter: Crusader Industries' Premier Tactical Transport
The Hercules Starlifter has established itself as the gold standard for tactical transport ships in the Star Citizen universe. Developed by Crusader Industries, this versatile heavy lifter comes in three distinct variants tailored for different mission profiles - the civilian C2 cargo hauler, the military M2 troop transport, and the formidable A2 bomber.
At its core, the Hercules features a massive cargo bay and vehicle transport capability that sets it apart from other ships in its class. The frame was originally designed to support strategic lift and landing operations for the UEE military. However, its adaptable design has found widespread use across military, commercial, and private sectors.
C2 Hercules - The Civilian Workhorse
The C2 variant caters to the civilian and commercial markets as a dedicated cargo hauler. With an enormous 672 SCU of cargo capacity, it has become the go-to choice for large-scale freight transport. The cavernous bay can accommodate multiple ground vehicles, making it popular with mining corporations, construction firms, and even touring entertainment companies.
While focused on cargo, the C2 still packs a punch with two remote turrets mounting S4 laser cannons and two front-mounted S4 ballistic gatling guns. This allows it to defend valuable payloads when traversing more dangerous space lanes.
M2 Hercules - Military Mobility
As the dedicated military transport, the M2 trades some cargo capacity for enhanced defensive capabilities and troop accommodation. It can carry 468 SCU of cargo or up to two Tumbril Nova tanks. The M2 features three remote turrets with dual S4 laser cannons, providing 360-degree coverage.
Inside, the M2 has seating for 12 troops or vehicle crews, along with amenities for extended deployments. This makes it ideal for rapidly inserting ground forces and vehicles into hot landing zones.
A2 Hercules - The Flying Fortress
The A2 variant takes the Hercules frame and transforms it into a heavy bomber and gunship. While its cargo capacity is reduced to 234 SCU, it makes up for this with an impressive array of weaponry. In addition to the standard loadout, the A2 adds two wing-mounted dual S5 laser cannons and two single S5 laser cannons.
Most notably, the A2 features a custom bomb bay capable of deploying four massive S10 bombs. This gives it the ability to deliver devastating strikes against ground targets. Combined with its vehicle transport capability, the A2 excels at establishing air superiority and ground control in contested areas.
All three Hercules variants share the same basic hull design, measuring 94m long, 70m wide and 23m tall. They also have identical top speeds of 135 m/s. Where they differ is in crew requirements - 2 for the C2, 3 for the M2, and 8 for the heavily-armed A2.
With its combination of heavy lifting capacity, firepower, and versatility, the Hercules Starlifter series has cemented its place as the premier tactical transport platform in the Star Citizen universe. Whether hauling cargo, deploying troops, or raining destruction from above, there's a Hercules variant suited for the task.
The Hercules Heist: A 30K.fun Misadventure
Captain Jax of the Star Citizen Referral Code Club stood in awe before the massive Hercules C2 Starlifter. His crew, a ragtag bunch of misfits from the RSI Referral Code Club, had somehow managed to "borrow" the ship from a Crusader Industries hangar on Orison.
"Alright, team," Jax announced, "We've got one shot to make the biggest haul in 30K.fun history. Let's load this baby up!"
As the crew scrambled to fill the C2's cavernous 672 SCU cargo hold, Zara, the team's hacker, approached Jax with a concerned look. "Captain, I've been thinking about what code to use to bypass the ship's security systems. It's more complex than I thought."
Jax grinned. "Don't worry, Zara. Remember our motto: have fun in the face of bugs! We'll figure it out."
Just then, alarms blared across the hangar. "Uh oh," muttered Finn, the team's lookout. "Looks like Crusader security is onto us. We need to leave now!"
The crew piled into the Hercules, with Jax taking the pilot's seat. As they lifted off, laser fire peppered the ship's hull. "Hang on, everyone!" Jax yelled, pushing the throttle to maximum.
The Starlifter lurched forward, its powerful engines propelling them towards space. As they broke atmosphere, Jax noticed a warning light on the console. "Zara, what's that flashing?"
Before she could answer, the ship shuddered violently. The dreaded "30K" error flashed across all screens.
"No, no, no!" Jax cried. But it was too late. The universe blinked, and they found themselves back in the hangar, surrounded by very angry Crusader security officers.
As they were led away in cuffs, Finn chuckled. "Well, at least we had fun, right? That's what The Star Citizen Referral Code Club is all about!"
Jax couldn't help but laugh. "You're right, Finn. Next time, we'll aim for something smaller. Maybe just a Constellation?"
The 30K.fun crew shared a laugh as they were escorted to the brig, already planning their next misadventure in the stars.
