Galactic Guide: Gliese System
A bustling hub of interspecies trade, the resource-rich Banu system of Gliese has been a popular destination for Human travelers for over two centuries. With several asteroid belts and six planets orbiting its blue-white star, Gliese offers abundant opportunities for commerce and exploration.
Though Humanity now has an established presence in Gliese, with several thriving settlements, it took hundreds of years of complex negotiations before this could come to pass. While most Banu were eager to pursue trade with other species, their trade routes were carefully guarded commodities. Striking agreements required diplomats to navigate the intricacies of Banu society, bargaining with everyone from planetary governments down to individual navigational soulis.
It wasn't until 2712 that Humanity finally gained formal access to Gliese, when Imperator Messer VIII negotiated entry rights as part of efforts to stimulate the stagnant UEE economy. The opening of trade relations with Gliese brought a much-needed influx of credits and resources to the Empire.
Today, Gliese remains a vibrant center of commerce, where traders can find valuable raw materials and manufactured goods from across Banu space. Beyond its economic appeal, the system holds one additional feature of great interest - a mysteriously abandoned terraformed world.
Gliese I & II
The two innermost planets see relatively little traffic. Gliese I has a superheated ferromagnetic iron core that some claim has medical benefits. Gliese II is notable for its retrograde rotation.
Gliese Belt Alpha
This "active" mining belt is notorious for frequent violent disputes between rival soulis over valuable ore claims.
Gliese III
A terrestrial world without an atmosphere, Gliese III hosts typical Banu mining operations with a shifting landscape of outposts as control changes hands between soulis.
Gliese IV (Nogo)
When Humans first arrived, they were shocked to discover a fully terraformed planet with no Banu inhabitants. The surface features decaying ruins of ancient settlements long abandoned. When asked why it's left untouched, most Banu simply reply they aren't supposed to go there, earning it the nickname "Nogo" among Humans.
Several Human colonies have since established themselves on Nogo, finding success and even trading with the nearby Lyris Flotilla. Xenoarchaeologists study the mysterious Banu ruins, seeking to uncover why the planet was abandoned.
Lyris Flotilla
The heart of commerce in Gliese, this massive trade hub is composed of interconnected stations and large vessels. Nearly all resources collected in the system pass through Lyris. Its diverse wings and halls offer an incredible variety of food, shopping and entertainment.
Gliese Belt Beta
This asteroid belt now draws more salvagers than miners, as its resources have been largely depleted.
Gliese V
A warm gas giant covered in dense water vapor clouds. Human corporation Terragra uses Gliese V as the source for their bottled water.
Gliese Cluster Gamma
A distant, sparse and dangerous asteroid cluster pursued only by experienced miners.
Gliese VI
This distant protoplanet is littered with good luck offerings left by Banu traders before embarking on journeys.
For Human visitors to Gliese, the system offers lucrative trade opportunities, archaeological mysteries, and a fascinating glimpse into Banu culture and commerce. However, newcomers are advised to be wary of the potent slomaddon drinks offered in Lyris market stalls, which can have delayed intoxicating effects on Humans.
A Glitchy Adventure in Gliese
Captain Jenna of the Star Citizen Referral Code Club sighed as her Constellation Andromeda dropped out of quantum travel near Gliese IV, affectionately known as Nogo. She'd been hired to transport a group of eager xenoarchaeologists to study the mysterious Banu ruins, but her ship's systems were acting up again.
"Another day, another glitch," she muttered, tapping her console. "At least we made it this far without a 30K."
Her co-pilot, a jovial Banu named Kex, chuckled. "That's the spirit! Always look on the bright side of bugs."
As they approached Nogo's atmosphere, Jenna's comms crackled to life. "Unidentified vessel, please state your business," a stern voice demanded.
"This is Captain Jenna of the 30K.fun Referral Code Club. We're transporting researchers to study the ruins," she replied.
There was a pause before the voice returned, softer this time. "Did you say 30K.fun? I've heard of you guys. Always helping new players figure out what code to use when joining up. You're cleared for landing."
Jenna grinned at Kex. "See? Sometimes a little reputation goes a long way."
As they touched down near the ruins, Jenna's ship suddenly powered down completely. She groaned, "Not again!"
Kex patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, Captain. We'll have plenty of time to fix it while the eggheads do their digging. Who knows? Maybe we'll even solve the mystery of Nogo!"
Jenna laughed, her frustration fading. "You're right. After all, that's what The Star Citizen Referral Code Club is all about – having fun no matter what the 'verse throws at us."
As they exited the ship, Jenna spotted a group of new pilots struggling with their equipment nearby. She smiled and headed over to lend a hand. Another day, another adventure in the glitchy but wonderful world of Star Citizen.
"Welcome to Nogo, folks," she called out. "Need any tips from your friendly neighborhood RSI Referral Code Club?"
