From ongoing Red Festival celebrations to an upcoming Origin Jumpworks event and a deep dive into the game's audio design, there's something for every citizen in the 'verse.
Red Festival 2956 Continues
The Red Festival is still bringing warmth and good fortune to Star Citizen, offering players the opportunity to collect special commemorative items. Citizens can currently claim a Year of the Rat emblem envelope, a commemorative display stand, and this year's collectible coin—all completely free of charge. These yearly collectibles allow players to show off their festival findings with pride.
For those looking to earn their fortune through skill, the Red Festival community screenshot contest is still accepting entries. Players are encouraged to jump, slide, and dash their way through the festival activities and capture their best moments for a chance to be featured.
Enter Atmosphere 2956 Recap
Over the weekend, Cloud Imperium Games attended Enter Atmosphere 2956 in Australia, marking a significant return to the ANZ community after an extended absence. The event was described as truly special, with the level of passion and creativity on display leaving a lasting impression on the attending team members. Huge congratulations were extended to ATMO esports and all contributors who helped make the gathering a success.

When Fortune Favors the Prepared
The Red Festival fireworks exploded across New Babbage's skyline as Commander "Whiskey" Chen stood in the commons, watching his HUD flicker ominously. Not again.
"Okay, folks," he announced over Discord to the assembled 30KFUN squadron. "Who wants to bet we get a 30K before we even leave atmo?"
"That's the spirit, Whiskey!" laughed Nova, her voice crackling through comms. "Always bet on the bugs."
The plan was simple: take a group of new players on a Red Festival commemorative coin hunt across Stanton, then cap off the evening with some light cargo hauling to show them the ropes. Six ships, twelve pilots, and enough collective experience to handle whatever the alpha build threw at them.
"Alright, new citizens," Whiskey continued, pulling up the navigation data. "First rule of 30KFUN: we don't let bugs beat us. We laugh at them, work around them, and keep flying. Second rule: nobody gets left behind. Questions?"
"Yeah," came a nervous voice—Gecko, one of the newbies. "What if I crash my ship?"
"Then we'll help you get another one," replied Torch, a veteran mentor who'd been with 30KFUN since the beginning. "That's what the community fund is for."
The squadron lifted off in formation—two Cutlass Blacks, an Avenger Titan, a Freelancer, and Whiskey's beloved 600i that he'd picked up during last year's Origin spring sale. The sixth ship, a battered Aurora piloted by Gecko, wobbled slightly as it cleared the hangar.
"Easy on the throttle, Gecko," Nova coached from her Cutlass. "You're not racing yet. Save that for when Vulcan-Aurora hosts another underground event."
They made it to microTech's upper atmosphere when the first bug hit.
"Uh, guys?" Gecko's voice pitched higher. "My ship is... rotating? I'm not touching anything!"
"Classic phantom spin!" Torch called out. "Cut your engines, count to three, then restart. The game will sort itself out."
Sure enough, Gecko's Aurora stopped its unauthorized barrel roll and steadied. The squadron cheered over comms.
"See?" Whiskey said. "Bug number one: defeated. Who's keeping score?"
They jumped to Crusader, where the Red Festival had scattered commemorative displays across the cloud city of Orison. The plan was to take screenshots for the community contest while collecting the special items. As they approached the landing zone, Whiskey's HUD went dark.
Complete systems failure.
"Whiskey's gone dark," Nova reported calmly. "Probably a 30K. Everyone else, status check?"
"Green."
"Good here."
"Still spinning, but I think that's me this time."
Whiskey's screen flickered back to life after a tense thirty seconds. He was falling through Crusader's clouds, his 600i in freefall, engines offline. Instead of panicking, he laughed.
"Well, that's one way to make an entrance! Rebooting now."
His ship roared back to life barely a kilometer from the platform. He pulled up hard, the luxury vessel's hull groaning under the strain, and executed what could only be described as the least graceful landing in Origin Jumpworks history.
"Stuck the landing!" he announced. "Ten points to 30KFUN!"
The group spent the next hour exploring Orison's festival installations. Gecko captured an incredible shot of the entire squadron framed against the setting sun with their commemorative displays in the foreground. Nova helped two newbies navigate the shopping interface to claim their free Year of the Rat emblems.
"This is amazing," breathed Gecko. "I've never seen anything like this in a game."
"Just wait," Torch said. "The best part is still coming."
They jumped to ArcCorp for the final leg of their journey—a simple cargo run to teach the basics of trading. Whiskey had spotted a fleetwide 20% discount at the in-game vendors, perfect for showing the newbies how to maximize profit margins.
That's when the pirates showed.
"Contact! Three Cutlass Blues, bearing 270!" Nova's voice snapped into combat mode. "Newbies, stay behind Whiskey's 600i. Veterans, on me!"
The ambush had been perfectly timed, catching them just outside ArcCorp's armistice zone. But the pirates hadn't counted on one thing: 30KFUN members drilled together constantly, bugs and all.
"Gecko, Frost, Shadow—match my heading," Whiskey commanded. "I'll tank the damage. Nova, Torch, you know what to do."
The two Cutlasses broke formation, swinging wide to flank the attackers. Whiskey's 600i, shields blazing, drew fire while keeping the newbies safe behind its bulk. Return fire lanced out from the Freelancer and Avenger.
Then Torch's ship disappeared.
"Server desync!" he called out. "I'm still here, just invisible!"
"Ghost protocol!" Nova laughed, adapting instantly. "Torch, you're our secret weapon. Flank right while they can't see you!"
The invisible Cutlass hammered the pirate formation from an unexpected angle. Confused and outgunned, the pirates broke off, jumping away before Torch's ship finally popped back into view.
"Did we just win a fight with a bug as our strategy?" Gecko asked, incredulous.
"Welcome to 30KFUN," Whiskey replied. "Where we turn disasters into tactical advantages."
They completed the cargo run without further incident, though Frost's ship did clip through the station floor once ("I've discovered a new shortcut!"), and everyone's quantum drive calibration seemed to take twice as long as it should.
Back in New Babbage, the squadron gathered in the commons one final time. Whiskey pulled up the community screenshot folder, where Gecko's sunset photo was already getting reactions from other 30KFUN members.
"Not bad for your first real outing," Nova said. "You handled the bugs, survived pirates, and got some great shots for the contest."
"I couldn't have done it without you all," Gecko said. "Every time something went wrong, someone was there to help."
"That's the whole point," Torch added. "We're not just a gaming community. We're a crew. The game's going to bug out, servers will crash, and sometimes your ship will quantum jump into a moon. But as long as we've got each other's backs, we keep flying."
Whiskey's HUD flickered again—the telltale sign of an incoming 30K error.
"Here we go again!" he announced cheerfully. "Same time tomorrow? I heard Origin's running a spring celebration, and I want to see what's on sale."
The squadron erupted in affirmative responses just as the server crashed, booting them all simultaneously.
In their Discord channel, the messages rolled in:
Gecko: Best gaming session ever.
Nova: Same time tomorrow. Who's bringing the newbies?
Torch: I'll update the community guide with that invisible ship tactic.
Whiskey: Fly low, fly fast, and always fly together. 30KFUN forever.
The 'verse might be buggy, incomplete, and prone to catastrophic failures, but with a community like this, every session was an adventure worth having.
