This Week in Star Citizen: Coramor Celebrations, Industrial Missions, and Community Highlights
The Star Citizen universe is buzzing with activity this week as Cloud Imperium Games continues to roll out new content and exciting events. From the romantic festivities of Coramor to the introduction of new industrial gameplay mechanics, there's plenty for citizens to dive into across the 'verse.
Coramor Festival and Special Promotions
The Coramor celebration arrived last week and will continue through February 23, bringing a touch of romance and camaraderie to the universe. This special event provides the perfect opportunity for players to share their experiences and stories from the 'verse. Cloud Imperium Games has launched a contest called "Love, Actually: Stories of the 'Verse" where players can submit their most memorable moments and adventures.
Complementing the festivities, a new Referral Bonus program and Free Fly event are currently active, making this an ideal time for existing players to invite friends to experience Star Citizen. New and returning players can jump into the game without barriers and explore everything the universe has to offer.
Argo MOTH Makes Its Debut
Industrial gameplay received a significant boost with the introduction of the Argo MOTH, a new salvage vessel designed to bridge the gap between small-scale and large-scale salvage operations. This mid-sized ship expands the options available to players focused on salvage careers, providing capabilities that sit comfortably between the smaller single-operator vessels and massive industrial platforms.
To support the launch, Cloud Imperium Games released comprehensive documentation including a Behind the Ships video that explores the technical specifications and design philosophy behind the MOTH. A detailed Q&A addresses the most common questions from the community, while a cinematic trailer showcases the vessel in action. These resources provide both prospective buyers and curious citizens with everything they need to know about this latest addition to Argo's industrial lineup.
Industrial Missions Expand Gameplay Options
Alpha 4.6 introduced a new suite of Industrial missions that significantly enhance the experience for players who prefer non-combat professions. These missions are designed to provide industrial-focused players with greater freedom, increased variety, and more compelling reasons to explore the universe. The mission structure allows players to approach objectives in their own way, encouraging creativity and strategic thinking rather than forcing a single solution path.
The development team emphasizes that these missions represent just the beginning of their vision for industrial gameplay. Players can expect continued refinement and expansion of these systems as development progresses.
Roadmap Updates and Progress Tracker
The latest Roadmap Update reveals exciting content coming in Alpha 4.7, including new armor sets for a Nyx faction called the Claw Salamanders. These additions will expand the variety of equipment available to players and add more depth to the universe's lore and factions.
The Progress Tracker received substantial updates highlighting recent work across multiple critical systems. Development teams have been making significant progress on Crafting, Inventory systems, the Vehicle Command Module, FPS Radar and Scanning capabilities, Instancing technology, and the Ship Hangar Landing Service. These foundational systems will enable more complex gameplay mechanics and improved player experiences once they reach implementation.
What's Coming This Week
Tuesday marks the beginning of the Red Festival, celebrating the Lunar New Year and ushering in the Year of the Rat in 2956. Players can expect themed festivities and special activities to commemorate this occasion throughout the universe.
On Thursday, Star Citizen Live returns with a focused deep dive into Industrial gameplay and non-combat professions. Lead Systems Designer Thorsten and Lead Mission Designer Elliot will join the broadcast to discuss the broader vision behind industrial systems, detail current progress, and explain the new Industrial Missions introduced in Alpha 4.6. The show streams on Twitch at 15:00 UTC on February 19, and the team is actively seeking questions from the community through a dedicated Spectrum thread.
Evocati testers will soon receive access to a new Tech Preview focused on the Inventory Rework and Crafting systems. This preview will allow the testing group to provide early feedback on these significant gameplay changes before they reach a wider audience.
Friday brings the latest RSI Weekly Newsletter to subscribers' inboxes. Players who haven't subscribed can enable this newsletter through their account settings to stay informed about all the latest developments.
On Saturday, February 21, the Australia and New Zealand community will gather in Sydney for Enter ATMOSPHERE 2956, a full-day event hosted by ATMO Esports. This celebration will feature high-speed ship racing, dogfighting showcases, meet-and-greets, and plenty of opportunities for community members to connect in person. Chris Roberts, Sandi Gardiner, and Community Manager Zyloh will attend, marking the first time the team has visited Australia in a decade.
Community Spotlight
The Community Hub continues to showcase exceptional content created by talented Star Citizen fans. This week's Community MVP recognition celebrates the ongoing contributions that players make through fan art, cinematics, guides, and other creative works.
One standout community creation is Battlestations, a crew assignment app developed by Osiris. This tool helps multi-crew operations by allowing players to add new members to their roster, assign roles, and coordinate activities across the 'verse. The app demonstrates the community's dedication to creating tools that enhance the Star Citizen experience for everyone.
Several stunning images from community members were highlighted this week:
Lover by Vulcan-Aurora captures a beautiful moment in the 'verse with exceptional composition and lighting.
Earned Silence by Taavi_Spectre showcases dramatic cinematography that tells a compelling visual story.
A Lovely Hangar by MakiStars demonstrates the personal touches players can add to their spaces with the return of hangar items in Alpha 4.6.
Silence In The Mountains by PoNsK captures the serene beauty of planetary landscapes in Star Citizen.
Players are encouraged to submit their own content to the Community Hub for the chance to be featured in future weekly roundups and potentially earn the MVP badge on Spectrum.
Looking Ahead
With Coramor festivities continuing, new industrial missions to explore, and the upcoming Red Festival celebration, Star Citizen players have plenty of activities to engage with over the coming week. The continued development progress on core systems and the vibrant community contributions demonstrate the ongoing growth and evolution of this ambitious space simulation project.
The Coramor Salvage Run
"Alright, 30KFUN, sound off!" Commander Stardust's voice crackled through the comms as seven ships materialized in orbit above Crusader.
"Red-Five, standing by with the MOTH," called out Nebula, patting the hull of her brand-new Argo MOTH salvage vessel.
"Wraith here, flying escort in my Gladius. Try not to crash into anything, Nebula."
"That was ONE time, and the asteroid jumped in front of me!"
The rest of the crew checked in—a mix of veterans and fresh-faced pilots who'd joined during the Free Fly event. Tonight's mission was perfect for the Coramor festival: help a stranded hauler recover their cargo before pirates could claim it. The 30KFUN community had turned it into a teaching opportunity, with experienced members guiding three newcomers through their first real salvage operation.
"Okay, newbies," Stardust began, pulling up the mission coordinates. "This is simple. We jump to the derelict, Nebula salvages what she can with the MOTH, and—"
Reality had other plans.
The moment they quantum-jumped, the server hiccupped. Hard.
"Uh, guys?" Wraith's Gladius was spinning lazily through space, thrusters unresponsive. "I think I'm doing an interpretive dance."
"At least you're IN your ship," laughed Tango, one of the newcomers. "I'm floating outside mine. In my underwear. Pretty sure I was wearing armor a second ago."
The comms erupted in laughter. This was peak Star Citizen alpha—glorious chaos that would've frustrated most groups. But 30KFUN had built their entire community around embracing the madness.
"Classic 30K energy," Nebula chuckled. "Alright, let's work around it. Tango, try the F11 respawn trick. Wraith, kill your engines and restart. Everyone else, sound off on status."
While they troubleshot, Stardust spotted something on sensors. "Hold up. We've got company. Three Cutlass Blacks, bearing 270. Pirates, and they're heading for our derelict."
"Of course they are," Wraith muttered, finally regaining control of his ship. "Because tonight wasn't exciting enough."
"Change of plans," Stardust announced. "Wraith, you and I run interference. Nebula, get that MOTH to the wreck fast. New folks, you're on cargo transfer duty once Nebula cracks it open. Think you can handle it?"
"We didn't join 30KFUN to play it safe," Tango replied, now back in his ship and properly clothed.
The battle was messy and magnificent. Wraith proved why he'd earned his callsign, weaving through the pirate formation like a ghost. Stardust's Hornet hammered one Cutlass with sustained fire while calling out tactics to the newcomers, turning a firefight into an impromptu flight school.
Meanwhile, Nebula worked her magic. The MOTH's salvage arms tore into the derelict's hull with surgical precision, exposing crates of medical supplies—the original mission cargo, desperately needed at a nearby station.
"Nebula to cargo team, you're clear to approach. And remember—"
"We know, we know," interrupted Tango. "Don't EVA without checking our oxygen, watch for debris, and if we start floating away, stay calm and use the jetpack."
"Someone's been reading our guides," Nebula said warmly.
The pirates weren't giving up easily. One Cutlass broke through and made a run at the salvage site. Wraith pursued, but took heavy fire. His shields collapsed, and alarms screamed through his cockpit.
"I'm hit! Shields down, power fluctuating—"
"Wraith, eject if you have to!" Stardust called out.
"Negative. I can—wait." Wraith's voice shifted to barely contained laughter. "The pirate just exploded."
"What?"
"He just... spontaneously combusted. No collision, no torpedo. He literally exploded for no reason."
The comms filled with cheers and laughter. The game's infamous bugs had struck again, but this time in their favor.
"The 'verse works in mysterious ways," Nebula said sagely. "Especially during Coramor. Maybe the universe wanted to give us a gift."
With the pirates scattered and the cargo secured, the team made the final run to Port Olisar. The newcomers successfully docked—only one minor collision with the station—and delivered the medical supplies. Mission complete.
Back in orbit, the seven ships formed up in a loose formation, silhouetted against Crusader's swirling clouds.
"Not bad for a Tuesday night," Stardust said. "New folks, what did you think?"
"That was incredible," Tango replied. "Chaotic, buggy, and absolutely incredible."
"Welcome to Star Citizen," Wraith laughed. "And welcome to 30KFUN."
"Speaking of which," Nebula added, "I'm updating our salvage guide tonight with MOTH tactics. Tango, you got some great screenshots during the operation. Mind if I use them?"
"Already sent them to the community hub. Screen-reader descriptions included."
"Perfect. That's the 30KFUN spirit—we all help each other learn."
As they prepared to log off, Stardust had one final announcement. "Same time next week? I hear there's a new industrial mission chain that's absolutely perfect for teaching mining operations."
"Wouldn't miss it," came the unanimous reply.
The ships dispersed into the black, quantum drives flaring to life. Behind them, the derelict tumbled peacefully through space, its cargo saved, its story now part of 30KFUN legend—bugs, pirates, spontaneous explosions, and all.
In the Star Citizen universe, nothing ever went exactly as planned. But with the right community, that was half the fun.
