Pirate Week 2955: Avast Ye, Star Citizens!
Ahoy, space scallywags! It's time to hoist the Jolly Roger and set sail for adventure across the starry seas. Pirate Week has dropped anchor in the 'verse, bringing with it a bounty of booty and mischief for all ye rapscallions and rogues.
Make Berth, Make Worth, Make Mirth
From September 13th to September 20th, the spirit of piracy will infect every corner of the Star Citizen universe. Whether you're a solo sailor braving the depths of Stanton or part of a Pyro privateer posse, there's plunder aplenty for all who dare to fly the black flag.
This year's Pirate Week invites you to embrace your inner buccaneer and partake in a variety of swashbuckling activities. From treasure hunts to ship battles, there's no shortage of ways to prove your piratical prowess.
Shiver Me Livery: Pirate Paints
What's a pirate without a fearsome ship to strike terror into the hearts of law-abiding citizens? The infamous Skullcrusher paint has returned, allowing you to adorn your vessels with a menacing visage that'll make even the bravest UEE pilot think twice before crossing your path.
This bone-chilling livery is available for the Asgard, Corsair, Avenger, and Ursa, ensuring your fleet looks as dangerous as it is. And for those who missed out on previous years' offerings, all past Pirate Week paints are up for grabs once more.
X Marks the Spot: The Great Pirate Treasure Hunt
No pirate celebration would be complete without a proper treasure hunt. This year, clever corsairs are invited to scour the far reaches of the 'verse for hidden clues. From Spectrum forums to social media channels and beyond, sharp-eyed buccaneers will find breadcrumbs leading to the ultimate prize.
Four clues have already been scattered to the solar winds, with more set to unfurl throughout the week. Decipher the Pirate's Code, and you'll claim a chest of hangar décor fit for a captain's quarters.
Blast the Jolly Roger: Pirate Flag Design Contest
Every self-respecting pirate needs a flag to strike fear into the hearts of their victims. The Pirate Flag Design Contest invites creative cutthroats to design their own unique standard. The most intimidating and inspired designs will be rewarded with a ship worthy of flying such a fearsome flag.
Aspiring vexillologists can find full contest details on the official Star Citizen Spectrum forums.
Yella-Bellies Beware: Pirate Swarm Arena Commander
For those itching for combat, the Pirate Swarm mode in Arena Commander offers a true test of mettle. Survive wave after wave of increasingly difficult pirate ships, and you'll earn more than just bragging rights. Victorious captains will receive the coveted Pirate Aggressor badge, granting access to the fearsome Aegis Gladius Pirate Edition or the Drake Caterpillar Pirate Edition.
But be warned: only the most skilled pilots will emerge victorious from this brutal gauntlet. You might want to have a flask of Radegast close at hand to steady your nerves.
Join the Scourge of Scoundrels
Throughout Pirate Week, the Star Citizen store will be awash with themed offerings. From limited-time packs to individual ship upgrades, there's no shortage of ways to beef up your piratical presence in the 'verse.
Highlighted offerings include:
- The return of the Skullcrusher paint series for various ships
- Classic Pirate paints from previous years
- Limited-time ship packs tailored for aspiring buccaneers
- Pirate-themed gear and accessories to complete your scurvy look
Of particular note are special upgrade offers for the Anvil Asgard and the Crusader M2 Hercules, both available in their "Warbond" variants for those looking to expand their fleet with a more nefarious bent.
Set Sail for Adventure
Pirate Week 2955 promises to be a celebration of the freedom and adventure that draws so many to the Star Citizen universe. Whether you're a dedicated pirate year-round or just looking to walk on the wild side for a spell, there's never been a better time to embrace your inner scallywag.
So gather your crew, plot your course, and prepare to make mischief across the stars. Just remember, in the words of the ancient pirate code: take what ye can, give nothin' back!
Pirate Week Pandemonium: 30KFUN's Skull and Crosswires
"Thirty-kay incoming!" shouted Vexar over the Discord channel as his Constellation Andromeda's systems began to flicker. The familiar warning signs of an imminent server disconnect were flashing across his HUD.
Captain_Accessibility, the de facto leader of today's 30KFUN expedition, quickly took command. "Everyone form up on Stellar_Noob's position. If we lose Vexar, we'll need to continue the treasure hunt without him."
Stellar_Noob, barely two weeks into Star Citizen, nervously adjusted his flight path. "Um, guys? I'm not sure I should be leading anything. I still crash into space stations half the time."
"That's why we're here," laughed BugHunter42. "30KFUN isn't about being perfect—it's about having fun despite the chaos. Besides, your Cutlass Black is perfect for this Pirate Week treasure hunt."
The small fleet of five ships had been following cryptic clues across the Stanton system as part of the Great Pirate Treasure Hunt. They'd already decoded three of the five riddles, which had led them from the depths of Hurston to the asteroid fields of Yela. Now they were en route to a mysterious coordinate in ArcCorp's orbit.
"I'm still here!" Vexar exclaimed with surprise. "System stabilized. Must have been a false alarm."
"Don't jinx it," warned SpaceWheelchair as she piloted her Mercury Star Runner alongside the group. "Everyone remember to take screenshots of any clues we find. For the website guides later."
The comm channel filled with chuckles as they approached their destination—a derelict Caterpillar barely visible against ArcCorp's neon glow.
"Alright team," Captain_Accessibility announced, "according to the fourth clue, we need to board that wreck and find 'the captain's lost eye that sees all stars.' Stellar, since you're our newest member, you get the honor of first boarding."
"M-me?" Stellar_Noob stammered. "What if there are NPCs? My FPS skills are terrible!"
BugHunter42's voice was reassuring. "That's why I'm coming with you. Remember what we practiced in the training session yesterday? Just follow my lead."
The five ships arranged themselves around the derelict, lights illuminating the scarred hull of the abandoned pirate vessel. SpaceWheelchair monitored long-range scanners while Vexar and Captain_A maintained a defensive perimeter.
As Stellar and BugHunter approached the airlock in their EVA suits, a warning blared through the comms.
"Hostile signatures incoming!" SpaceWheelchair called. "Three Cutlasses, definitely player-controlled. They're running pirate Skullcrusher livery."
Captain_A's voice remained calm. "Looks like we're not the only ones hunting treasure. Vexar, take point. SpaceWheel, get ready to deploy countermeasures. Let's show these wannabe pirates how 30KFUN handles unexpected company."
Inside the derelict, Stellar_Noob followed BugHunter through the darkened corridors. "Should we abort the mission?"
"Not yet," BugHunter replied. "The best part of Star Citizen is adapting to the unexpected. Besides, I think I see something up ahead."
The captain's quarters lay in ruins, but there on the desk sat an ancient telescope with a glowing crystal lens.
"The captain's eye that sees all stars!" Stellar exclaimed, carefully collecting the artifact.
Outside, chaos had erupted. The three pirate ships had engaged 30KFUN's defenders, laser fire and missiles crisscrossing the void.
"We've got the artifact!" BugHunter reported as they raced back to their ships. "Heading to extraction point."
Vexar's shields flared as he absorbed fire meant for the returning explorers. "Hurry up! My Connie's taking a beating here!"
As Stellar_Noob reached his Cutlass, disaster struck. "Guys? My ship won't respond to the entry command!"
Captain_A remained composed. "Classic bug. SpaceWheel, can you pick them up?"
"On it!" SpaceWheelchair maneuvered her Mercury toward the derelict's docking collar.
Just as the rescue seemed imminent, Vexar's panicked voice cut through: "Actual 30K! Not a false alarm! I'm—" His transmission cut off abruptly as his ship froze in space.
"We lost Vexar," Captain_A announced. "Stellar, get aboard SpaceWheel's ship. BugHunter, can you remote into Stellar's Cutlass from your mobiglas? Sometimes that bypasses the entry bug."
"Already trying," BugHunter replied. "Got it! Doors opening."
The pirate attackers, seeing their opportunity with Vexar gone, pressed their advantage. Missiles streaked toward the vulnerable 30KFUN ships.
"Everyone scatter and regroup at the emergency coordinates!" Captain_A ordered. "Quantum jump on my mark!"
SpaceWheelchair's Mercury, now carrying both Stellar and BugHunter, took a glancing hit that sent it spinning. "Stabilizers damaged! Can't align for quantum!"
"I've got you covered," Captain_A declared, positioning his Hammerhead between the pirates and his friends. "Get those systems back online!"
Inside the Mercury, Stellar_Noob watched in awe as BugHunter and SpaceWheelchair worked in perfect coordination, one rerouting power while the other manually realigned the quantum drive.
"This is what 30KFUN is all about," BugHunter explained while working. "When the game throws chaos at us, we adapt together."
The Mercury's engines flared back to life just as Captain_A's shields began failing under the concentrated fire.
"Now!" Captain_A shouted as all three remaining ships engaged their quantum drives simultaneously, streaking away from the battle.
They regrouped at a hidden location in Microtech's orbit, where Vexar was already waiting, having reconnected after his 30K disconnect.
"Did we lose the artifact?" he asked anxiously.
Stellar_Noob proudly displayed the telescope. "Got it right here. I can't believe we pulled that off!"
Captain_A smiled. "That's the 30KFUN way. Bugs, pirates, disconnects—nothing stops us from having an adventure together."
As they decoded the final clue from the telescope's hidden compartment, Stellar_Noob looked around at his new friends.
"You know, when I started playing last week, I was ready to quit after my third crash. I'm really glad I found you guys instead."
"That's why we're here," SpaceWheelchair replied. "To help new players navigate not just the 'verse, but all its quirks too."
"Speaking of which," BugHunter chimed in, "who's ready to document this mission for the website? Stellar, want to help write your first guide?"
As the group plotted their course to the final treasure location, Captain_A raised a virtual toast in the Discord channel: "To 30KFUN—where every disconnection is just the beginning of a new adventure!"
"To 30KFUN!" the others echoed as their ships aligned for the next quantum jump, the stars stretching into brilliant blue streaks around them.
