PU Monthly Report: October 2023
With Alpha 3.21 and CitizenCon behind us, many development teams have turned their attention to upcoming patch releases closing out the year.
October saw significant progress across multiple areas as teams prepared for CitizenCon and continued work on Pyro and future content. The AI teams focused on bringing improved combat functionality from Squadron 42 to the Persistent Universe, including updated accuracy calculations, perception reactions, and combat tactics.
The Character team began work on new racing flightsuits and creature models, while the Ship team made progress on several vessels including the Crusader Spirit series and RSI Polaris. Significant work also went into preparing the Pyro system for its debut at CitizenCon and subsequent preview release.
In gameplay, the Economy team balanced commodity profitability for Pyro and Stanton, while also reviewing vehicle and armor pricing. The Features teams advanced work on engineering gameplay, structural salvage, and the vehicle tractor beam. Missions saw progress on data heists, the Blockade Runner event, and new content for Pyro.
Graphics and tech teams polished features demonstrated at CitizenCon like water simulation and global illumination. The Locations team continued work on Pyro's rundown stations and settlements. Narrative supported CitizenCon preparations and released new lore content expanding the game's universe.
With CitizenCon showcasing major upcoming features and Pyro now in players' hands via the preview channel, development continues at full speed towards Alpha 3.22 and beyond. The teams are excited to see player reactions and feedback as new content rolls out in the coming months.
A Glitch in the System
As the Star Citizen Referral Code Club members gathered at Grim HEX, the station's flickering neon signs seemed to mock their latest misadventure. Captain Jax, the self-proclaimed leader of the 30K.fun crew, recounted their recent expedition to Pyro.
"There we were, about to make the jump back to Stanton with our holds full of valuable salvage," Jax began, gesturing wildly. "When suddenly, the dreaded 30K error struck!"
The group groaned collectively, all too familiar with the infamous server disconnect.
"But fear not!" Jax continued, a mischievous glint in his eye. "For in that moment of digital chaos, I had a brilliant idea."
A newcomer to the station approached, drawn by the animated storytelling. "What's all this about?" they inquired.
"Ah, fresh meat!" Jax exclaimed. "We're the 30K.fun crew, masters of turning bugs into features. Care to join our merry band?"
The newcomer hesitated. "I'm not sure what code to use to get started..."
"Fear not, young space cadet!" Jax proclaimed. "The RSI Referral Code Club has got you covered. But first, let me finish my tale of woe and wonder!"
As Jax regaled the group with his far-fetched plan to weaponize 30K errors against pirate fleets, the newcomer found themselves drawn into the camaraderie of these cheerful glitch-surfers.
Little did they know, their journey with The Star Citizen Referral Code Club was just beginning, promising adventures filled with laughter, mishaps, and the occasional server hiccup across the vast expanse of the 'Verse.
