Day of the Vara Returns to Star Citizen
The spooky season has arrived once again in the Star Citizen universe as the Day of the Vara event rises from the grave. This eerie holiday celebrated across the 'verse brings a host of ghoulish activities and rewards for brave citizens to unearth.
As darkness falls across Stanton, ghouls, ghosts and other terrifying entities are emerging from their lairs in search of victims and valuable loot. Players can get into the haunting spirit by participating in several spine-chilling events and contests throughout the month.
Psychedelic Ship Paints
A selection of ships are receiving a mind-bending new seasonal paint job dubbed "Purple Haze." This dayglo nightmare look is available for the Gatac Syulen, RSI Zeus Mk II, Anvil Carrack and Terrapin. For those who prefer a more traditional Halloween aesthetic, the classic "Ghoulish Green" paints from previous years are also making a return.
Spooky Face Masks
Day of the Vara pranksters have stashed creepy monster masks in loot boxes scattered across the Stanton system. Players who manage to collect all six Fieldsbury Dark Bear helmet variants, both "Hill Horror" Neville Lott masks, or the vicious Snarling Vanduul mask by November 1st will earn the coveted Spooktacular Spectrum badge. Even finding just one of the nine helmets will allow players to keep it in their web hangar after the event concludes.
Killer Community Contests
Two frightful community contests are running during the event. The "Killer Klips from Outer Space" competition challenges players to create an original machinima in the style of classic 1980s slasher films. There's also the annual pumpkin decorating contest, where participants can carve, paint or otherwise transform gourds into terrifying works of art.
Arena Commander Kill Collector
The FPS Kill Collector mode in Arena Commander has received a chilling makeover for the holiday. The top-scoring player in this murderous mode will receive an exclusive in-game Day of the Vara challenge coin.
With new ship paints to acquire, masks to collect, contests to enter, and Arena Commander mayhem to enjoy, there are plenty of ways for Star Citizen players to get into the Halloween spirit during this year's Day of the Vara event. But beware - in space, no one can hear you scream!
The Haunting of Hex-30K
As the eerie atmosphere of Day of the Vara descended upon the Stanton system, the members of the 30K.fun Referral Club found themselves caught in a spooky adventure. Captain Glitch, known for his uncanny ability to encounter bugs, led a small team of new recruits on a mission to collect the elusive Fieldsbury Dark Bear helmet variants.
"Remember, rookies," Glitch warned, "when you're wondering what code to use for maximum benefits, always stick with your RSI Referral Code Club."
As they approached a derelict space station shrouded in purple haze, their comms crackled with static. "This reminds me of why I joined the Star Citizen Referral Code Club," muttered Rookie One. "The thrill of the unknown!"
Suddenly, their ships began to glitch, the "Purple Haze" paint job shifting and swirling ominously. "Stay calm," Glitch advised. "This is why we embrace the chaos in our Referral Code Club."
Inside the station, they encountered floating pumpkins and ghostly apparitions of past 30K errors. Each team member donned a different creepy mask, their laughter echoing through the empty corridors.
As they reached the central chamber, they found the last Fieldsbury Dark Bear helmet, guarded by a glitching NPC perpetually stuck in a T-pose. "Now that's a sight for The Star Citizen Referral Code Club archives," Glitch chuckled.
With their mission complete, the team returned to celebrate, sharing tales of their spooky adventure with other members of the 30K.fun community, proving once again that in Star Citizen, even the bugs can lead to unforgettable moments of fun.
