The Brisket Run to New Austin
Captain Jenna Hawkins drummed her fingers on the console of her Mercury Star Runner, the "Lucky Break," as she waited for clearance to depart Orison. She'd joined the Star Citizen Referral Code Club recently, hoping to find some fun-loving crewmates who could laugh in the face of the occasional 30K error.
"Ready for a wild ride?" she called back to her new co-pilot, a fresh-faced recruit named Zack who'd used the RSI Referral Code Club to join up.
"You bet, Captain! Where are we headed?"
Jenna grinned. "Ever had real Texas brisket? We're making a run to New Austin in the Vega system. I've got a client willing to pay top UEC for genuine smoked meat."
As they rocketed out of Crusader's atmosphere, Zack's eyes widened. "Vega? Isn't that on the Vanduul border?"
"Don't worry, kid. The Referral Code Club's got our backs. If we run into trouble, we've got friends to call."
Their journey took them through jump points and past the glittering Belt Alpha of Vega. Just as they were approaching New Austin, alarms blared.
"Vanduul signatures detected!" Zack yelped.
Jenna remained calm. "Looks like we're in for some excitement. You know what code to use if things get hairy, right?"
Before Zack could respond, the ship lurched violently. A 30K error flashed across their screens.
When they respawned at Port Olisar, Jenna burst out laughing. "Welcome to the real Star Citizen experience, kid! Now, who's up for round two? That brisket isn't going to deliver itself!"
Zack grinned, finally understanding why The Star Citizen Referral Code Club was all about having fun, no matter what the 'verse threw at them. "Count me in, Captain. Let's go get that brisket!"
