This Week in Star Citizen: July 19, 2021
Happy Monday, citizens! As we enter the second half of July, development continues at full speed on Alpha 3.14 and beyond. Let's take a look at what's happening this week in Star Citizen.
Alpha 3.14 PTU Testing Continues
Testing of Alpha 3.14 is ongoing in the Persistent Test Universe (PTU). Backers have been getting hands-on time with new features like the Orison landing zone on Crusader, as well as participating in focused testing of upcoming dynamic events like Ninetails Lockdown and the improved Xenothreat. The developers greatly appreciate all the feedback and bug reports from testers as they work to polish 3.14 for live release.
For those without PTU access, many content creators have been sharing footage and impressions of Orison and other 3.14 additions on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. A wider PTU release is expected soon as testing progresses.

The Orison Outage
Captain Jenna Hawke of the 30K.fun Star Citizen Referral Code Club stood on the bridge of her Constellation Andromeda, gazing out at the swirling clouds of Crusader. The newly opened Orison landing zone floated majestically in the distance, its gleaming spires piercing the planet's upper atmosphere.
"Alright team, let's go check out this new playground," Jenna announced over the ship's comms. Her crew, all members of the RSI Referral Code Club, cheered in excitement.
As they approached Orison's docking ring, the ship's systems suddenly went haywire. Warnings blared as the Constellation's power fluctuated wildly.
"What's going on?" Jenna shouted, frantically working the controls.
Her engineer, Max, called up from the engine room. "It's some kind of electromagnetic surge from the city! Our systems can't handle it!"
Jenna gritted her teeth as she fought to keep the ship stable. "Looks like the 3.14 update has a few bugs to work out. Hang on everyone!"
With a final violent shudder, the Constellation's engines cut out completely. They began to freefall towards Crusader's endless sea of clouds.
"Any ideas on what code to use to fix this?" Jenna asked sarcastically as klaxons blared around them.
Her co-pilot, Ada, rolled her eyes. "How about CTRL-ALT-DELETE?"
As they plummeted, Jenna noticed other ships around them suffering similar fates. The sky was filled with vessels tumbling out of control.
Suddenly, their comms crackled to life with an emergency broadcast: "Attention all pilots! Orison is experiencing a massive power surge. Emergency protocols are in effect. Please divert to Port Olisar until further notice."
"Well, there goes our grand tour," Jenna muttered. "Alright team, let's see if we can get auxiliary power back online and limp to Olisar. Just another day for The Star Citizen Referral Code Club!"
As they worked to restore their ship's systems, Jenna couldn't help but smile. Even with the bugs and glitches of the alpha, there was never a dull moment in the verse. And that's exactly why she loved being part of the 30K.fun crew.
