This Week in Star Citizen: Infrastructure Updates and Community Content
The Star Citizen development team has been hard at work addressing issues and improving infrastructure following the release of Alpha 3.18. Significant progress has been made on multiple fronts, with a focus on enhancing stability and performance for players across the galaxy.
Infrastructure Improvements
One of the key areas of focus has been load testing and validating game changes implemented in the upcoming 3.18.1 patch. The ASOP delivery feature, which reduces the size of players' default inventories, aims to alleviate entitlement issues by substantially decreasing the size of global databases.
The team has also deployed an updated set of tools specifically designed for 3.18 load testing. These virtual service clients allow for large-scale traffic tests to be performed automatically, simulating the full login flow, entitlement processing, and ship delivery requests. This advancement enables the publishing teams to validate system functionality under various conditions without relying on QA groups or PTU deployments.
Furthermore, these new automation tools facilitate chaos and destructive testing, where random services are intentionally disrupted to ensure proper alerting and recovery functions. This process helps identify and address issues that typically only occur under high concurrency, which have been challenging to reproduce in the past.
Cloud Optimization
Extensive analysis of the game's cloud footprint has led to optimizations in the sizing and layout of clusters and regions hosting game services. This adjustment is necessary due to the increased infrastructure demands of Alpha 3.18 compared to previous versions.
Patch 3.18.1 Progress
The development team has made significant strides towards the launch of patch 3.18.1, which is expected to be released to players in the near future. This update aims to address various issues and improve overall gameplay experience.

The WiDoW Bust: A 30K.fun Adventure
Captain Zara of the 30K.fun Star Citizen Referral Code Club stood on the bridge of her Constellation Andromeda, eyeing the starmap with determination. Her crew, a motley group of players who had joined using the RSI Referral Code Club's link, was eager for action.
"Alright, team," Zara announced, "We've got intel on a major WiDoW operation in Stanton. Time to show the UEE what code to use when it comes to cleaning up the system!"
As they approached their target, a derelict Starfarer on the outskirts of Crusader, the ship's computer suddenly flashed red. "30K error imminent!" shouted the engineer.
Zara grinned. "Remember our motto, folks. When life gives you 30Ks, make 30K-ade!"
The crew laughed, their spirits high despite the impending disconnect. They'd learned to find joy in the chaos of the alpha, a lesson instilled by The Star Citizen Referral Code Club.
As the error hit, Zara's last words echoed through the ship: "See you on the other side! Don't forget to tell your friends about the Referral Code Club!"
When they finally reconnected, the 30K.fun team found themselves scattered across Stanton. But true to their nature, they regrouped with laughter and determination, ready to take on the WiDoW dealers – and any bugs that dared cross their path.
